Stay Hungry: Cooking Channel

The Cooking Channel
The Food Network's newest spin-off, The Cooking Channel leaves a lot to be desired. I'm sure many will disagree with me and you are allowed (but this is my hub)! I was told on three separate occasions by Comcast that they would not be carrying The Cooking Channel. I did a search on the Cooking Channel's Facebook page to see if they would be in my area and was reassured that they would not be. Because I was really interested in watching the new network, I continued doing some research. I recently started what some may call a food blog called Iron Cook: American and I was looking for some new recipes to prepare for the site.
My extra research paid off because I learned the Fine Living Network was being converted into the Cooking Channel and Comcast was carrying it. Unfortunately it was not part of my current line up and if I wanted to watch it I would have to upgrade my service and that would cost extra money that I did not have. Going against my better judgment, I called and upgraded anyway. Now I have the cooking channel.
With the same amount of excitement I had in getting the Cooking Channel, I have the very same disappointment. the Cooking Channel is not living up to my expectations. I'm not sure if it's their fault or it is mine. I thought there would be a lot of new chefs and home cooks, caterers and bakers. Yes, they are new. New to us! Watching The Cooking Channel is a lot like going to purchase a new car and coming home with a used one. Not new, but new to me.
Most of the shows are old shows from Australia, Canada or the UK. Again, they are new to me, but they are still old. The rest of the shows are old Food Network shows like Malto Mario. On the bright side, I get to see reruns of two PBS greats; Julia Child's, The French Chef and Graham Kerr's, The Galloping Gourmet. Additionally Iron Chef, the original from Japan also is on the Cooking Channel. The bad part about Iron Chef is that it comes on at 11:00 pm. At that time I should either be sleeping or watching the new episodes of Good Eats. If I stay awake after that I like to watch The Colbert Report.
If you are tired of my rant, head on over to the Cooking Channel and see for yourself. Make sure your cable provider has it first!
Bon appetit!

The new Cooking channel, stay hungrey is fantastic...better than ever.
I studied French and Italian cooking, becoming a chef and love to still, though retired and see these programs...they are all very nice people and highly skilled...If only food could be as good as what we see on the new Cooking "Channel..
Mario is a fantastic gem of a cook..boy,would
I love to share a dinner with him, such an enthusiastic kind and loving person with great passion for his food.
I paid a lot of money to become a chef who continued to take classes. And this Cooking channel is free..the old Cooking Channel has some great people..the" pack your knives and go" got very tedious and awful to watch.
Becoming a chef is demanding and not always nice, great cooking is very hard to do and requires much of the student...If people knew how hard it really is, they would'understand . I think it is a rare few who do not find it as hard as it is...and breeze through culinary school.Maybe if you grow up with it and hit the deck running when you begin your studies, it is easier to do.
For me,I did not know beans about French Food and frantically got through the program is Madeline Kamman.
