TerraCycle! And Put An End To School Fundraising
63They Make Products From Your Trash
Every Parents Dream
Tired of candy, candles and cookie sales? It seems every time I turn around it's fundraiser time at school. When one ends another one starts and the cycle keeps repeating until Girl Scout cookie time. Then like clock work the fundraisers start right up again as soon as the scouts are finished.
At the beginning of the school year I found a way to exit from the monotony. I could now raise money for my children's schools and still not have to fund raise. No more selling and no more collecting money.
It is called TerraCycle. TerraCycle recycles everyday products and turns them into new products. It helps the environment and your school at the same time. So far TerraCycle has collected $1,476,863.02 for charities and schools count as charities. The empty CapriSun packets collected each earn .02 cents and with every 500 collected you can send them to TerraCycle.
Two cents for a pouch doesn't seem like a lot but with over a thousand kids eating packed lunches with Capri Suns for drinks, five times a week, it adds up. Founded in 2001 by a 19 year old Princeton University freshman named Tom Szaky, TerraCycle prevents 1000’s of tons of waste from going to landfills.
